Enhance Your Vacation Rental Experience by bringing these items
Maybe you’re new to the vacation rental arena or, perhaps you’ve been booking your vacations through a vacation rental company for years. Whether you are a newbie or a novice, we have some tips to make your vacation rental experience top notch.
Oceana Resorts is unique in that we provide onsite check in, housekeeping, and maintenance for our properties. You won’t need to bring bed linens or bath towels as those are provided. We also provide towels for use at the pools. However, beach towels are not provided so if you plan on spending some time on the ocean (and we know you do) you’ll want to make sure you have those beach towels and blankets.
Units with kitchens are fully stocked with all of the essentials. You won’t need to worry about bringing dishes, utensils or cookware. But, you will want to bring the basics in terms of spices and any items that you can’t go without like corkscrews or other specialized utensils. You’ll also want to bring or purchase paper towels, dish liquid, and your own groceries and condiments. Most or our guests bring the smaller essentials and purchase their grocery items upon arrival. There are always plenty of near-by shopping options ranging from Walmart to the more gourmet grocery stores like Publix and Lowe’s Foods. We also have an abundance of fresh produce and seafood markets open during peak season that will allow you to experience the local flavors you’re sure to love.
In terms of toiletries, we provide an initial supply of the basics – shampoo, soap, conditioner and lotion but it’s wise to bring your own items if you plan to stay with us for more than just a few days. You’ll also want to ensure you bring tissues and toilet paper. Hair dryers are also provided so you can leave this item behind. Make sure you bring any medications you may need. If you are a contact lens wearer, it’s always a good idea to bring an extra pair of lenses and those back up glasses just in case!
All Oceana units have DVD players and our guests that book directly with us receive free DVD rentals during their stay. Family movie night is always a fun time. If your family enjoys game playing, bring your favorites with you. There is nothing better than bonding with your family over a movie or fun board game.
Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rental but that cost can be prohibitive especially if you’re staying for more than just a day or two. Purchasing inexpensive chairs for use during your stay may be a better option. You can always pass them forward to the next family! There is a beach souvenir shop on virtually every corner so you’re sure to find everything you need for a fun day in the sun. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
If you plan on staying at one of our dog-friendly resorts, you’ll want to ensure you bring everything that Fido needs for your stay. Food, bowls, and medications are a good start. Toys and flotation devices may be great additions if you plan on spending time with your pooch at the beach. (Click here for rules and regulations regarding dogs on the beach.)
Our website is a valuable source of information. Check there first for a list of items included in your vacation rental. You’ll need to locate the resort in which you’re staying then check the amenities section for your room type. When in doubt, we encourage you to call the property where you will be vacationing. They will be happy to advise you on what items are included and which items are not.
